About Us

The Krewe – Our Mission

The Krewe of Lafitte, established in 1954, is a society of gentlemen dedicated to fostering fellowship, equality, and community service throughout Northwest Florida. Our mission is to build lifelong friendships among our members and give back to our communities and the charities we support.

During the Mardi Gras season, we entertain the people of Pensacola with our Krewe of Lafitte’s Illuminated Parade, featuring 12 hand-built, pirate-themed floats. Joined by other local organizations, we delight the crowds with beads, stuffed animals, moon pies, and other surprises. Additionally, we participate in the Pensacola Grand Mardi Gras Parade, Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras Parade, Pensacola Christmas Parade, Pensacola Beach Christmas Parade, and Pensacola Grand Fiesta Parade. Our three traveling floats also make appearances at various regional parades and festivals, including the Milton Mardi Gras Parade, Milton Christmas Parade, Dominique Youx Pirates of the High Seas Festival and Parade in Panama City Beach, Navarre Mardi Gras Parade, and Hernando DeSoto Historical Society’s Parade and Festival in Bradenton.

Beyond entertaining, we support prostate awareness, education, and wellness through our annual Pirates for Prostates Golf Tournament. We also make “Mardi Gras Parade” visits to schools and ARC. Our members participate in the annual “Teddy Bear Run” with our brother Krewes, Springtime Tallahassee and the Rough Riders, visiting special children in Leon County during the Springtime Tallahassee Festival.

We cherish our collaborations with other area Krewes, such as Krewe of Airship Pirates, Krewe of Cheer, Krewe of Aphrodite, Krewe of Vixens, Krewe of Seville, Krewe of Dominique Youx, Crewe of DeSoto, Navarre Krewe of Jesters, and many more. In times of crisis, such as hurricanes, we assist with relief efforts through donations from our generous membership, our Foundation, and the supportive people of Pensacola and surrounding areas.

Our members, when not embodying the spirit of pirates, are deeply involved in community support, striving to make Pensacola a better place to live. We have proudly been the Pride of Pensacola since 1954.
